Ecuador: Majority of crime victims are men

National crimes recorded by the National Police now also go through a process of analysis. Colonel Paul Rodriguez, a member of the institution of the order, said that the cities of Guayaquil, Quito, Santo Domingo, Esmeraldas and Manta are the most complaints recorded unlike small provinces where the level of complaints is low.

In the country, 91% of victims of all types of crimes is of men and 9% are female. Here, however, emphasizes that women victims of assaults are reported within femicide and domestic violence.

According to the data and analysis of the Police, the age groups of people, most of which are affected by criminal acts, are between 16 and 30, located on 45.41%.

According to public safety observatories of the main cities of Ecuador, Quito and Guayaquil and Cuenca, theft from homes has declined in the capital. In 2004, this crime stood at 29.90%, while in 2011 fell to 18.71%.

Also, national states that 66.49% of the crimes, assaults and homicides happen in public places, while in 13.38% of cases occur in homes and 3.49% in bars and nightclubs. Read Article
