Ecuador: Investments in health sector yields positive results

A review of the budget for the first half of 2014, presented by Finance Minister Fausto Herrera, reveals that investment in healthcare has led to favorable results. A sharp reduction in cases of malaria has been attributed to the recent cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the emergency ECU911 ambulance service. “In healthcare, the principal achievement was the 63% reduction in malaria cases in the country compared to the same period in 2013. Also, implementing communication services between ambulances that work out of ECU911,” said Herrera on this accomplishment. Read Article
