Ecuador, Inigenous children dying from rabies after bat bites

Human rabies caused by bat bites indigenous Shuar, continues to claim lives and until yesterday the death toll reached four. Health Authorities of Morona Santiago and Shuar leaders agreed that the death toll could rise. Edwin Sarche, director (e) Macas hospital, said yesterday that on Thursday November 24 came to this nursing home a 9 year old boy who died at the time of making the transfer to Cuenca. First it was unknown whether it was anger, but a biopsy revealed that this was the cause. On Saturday, 26 were referred three new cases, of which one died yesterday at 05:30. He was a child of 7 years. While two children, ages 11 and 15 years were up yesterday afternoon with grave prognosis, had the same symptoms as the deceased. Read Article
