Ecuador: Gay activist continues fight against homophobia

With her organization ALFIL, activist Rashell Erazo works tirelessly to combat homophobia in Ecuador and promote LGBTQ rights within the country. While she says that there is still discrimination against transsexuals and people of distinct sexual orientations in access to employment and education, she believes that the 2008 Constitution of Montecristi is giving way to their greater acceptance in society. “There have been important legal advances,” Erazo told teleSUR English. “For example the constitution of 2008, where there is greater respect for differences in sexual orientation, and in gender identity, which is very complete, it even refers to transsexuals.” Read Article
