Ecuador: Dry Law to be in place for upcoming elections in February, 2017

eluniverso.com reported that beginning Friday, February 17 at 12:00, until noon on Monday, February 20, it will not be possible to sell or consume alcoholic beverages in Ecuador, due to the dry law that governs during the period prior to election day: February 2017.

According to the Code of Democracy , it is established that on the day of the elections, thirty-six hours before and twelve hours later the sale, distribution or consumption of alcoholic beverages will not be allowed.

The penalty for non-compliance with this rule is 50% of the basic monthly compensation unified as a fine, which is equivalent to $ 187.50. Read Article
