Ecuador: Dengue cases continue to rise in 2013

According to Eluniverso.com, Dengue cases continue to rise in the country, according to figures released in the latest epidemiological bulletin published by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and collecting cases until the fifth week of 2013 so far. Only between 29 January and 5 February this year there were 486 new patients, of whom two are to bleeding, severe called authorities. The MSP reported a total of 728 dengue patients a week earlier and are now 1,208 in 18 provinces of Ecuador. The actual amount almost reached that of the same period last year, when 1,484 cases were reported in 13 provinces. But 2012 was described by authorities of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Andean Health Organization (OAS) as an “epidemic” in the Andean region. Read Article
