Ecuador: After more than year, family still has hopes of finding missing U.S. teen

news9.com reported August Reiger went missing from a hike on Father’s Day in 2013 near Banos Ecuador. He had just graduated from the top of his class at Classen School of Advanced Studies in Oklahoma City and was set to begin a full-ride scholarship at the University of Oklahoma His disappearance is classified as a kidnapping, but his parents have never received a ransom.

“Every day they wake up without their son is just as bad as the one before, or actually, I guess it’s worse,” Cristir told News 9. Officials in Ecuador have offered a reward for August’s return, the State of Oklahoma and the White House have pressured Ecuadorian officials to ramp up the search and fellow Oklahomans have held vigils for his safety.
