Ecuador: 673 Children Arrested For Drug Trafficking so Far in 2014

Groups of drug traffickers and some family units involve children in drug trafficking actions because minors cannot be prosecuted, said colonel David Ortega, of the antidrug division in Ecuador.
According to the last estimates published by the Antidrug Department, some 673 children were arrested so far this year for being involved in those actions. The department pointed out the rising trend of the statistics compared to prior periods, provided that for that reason 941 children were arrested during the whole year 2013, said El Telegrafo newspaper.
