Ecuador: 222 confirmed cases of Chikungunya

elcomercio.com reported the Ministry of Health of Ecuador today reported February 28 that to date there are 222 cases infected with chikungunya in the country, a figure that has doubled in the last week due to an outbreak of more than 100 infections in the coastal province of Esmeraldas. The entity indicated that works with epidemiological fences, fumigation and household actively seeking patients in areas where suspected cases are presented. The ministry asked the civic commitment to fight the disease. The Health Minister Carina Vance, stressed that prevention of these diseases depends largely on the actions you take the family and community. Vance visited the city of Esmeraldas where has the highest number of cases of chikungunya. The first case of this disease in Ecuador reported in December 2014. Read Article
