The town of Villa La Angostura is slowly recovering its daily life and main source of income, tourism, after being declared a disaster zone in the wake of ash storms from Chilean volcano, Puyehue. Cronista.com reports that 67 hotels have reopened, 50% of sightseeing tours are available, 7 surrounding lakes are open and common tourist attractions like hiking and horseback riding are up and running. Directors of Cerro Bayo and surrounding hotels have decided not to charge the typical high season rates of July and August, which will reduce prices by 30% to 40%.
