BURGLARS ENTER THROUGH ROOF OF APARTMENT

Last week an expat family residing in Cuenca, Ecuador for three years were enjoying the day at home. Living a few blocks from Parque Calderon across from Vina, they decided to take a walk down to the river as many expats do everyday. They were gone from between one and three in the afternoon. When they arrived home they found they had been burglarized.

They live in an older building on the top floor with a balcony and is not well constructed. The intruders came through the roof of the apartment and appeared that the roof access door in the building had been left open that is used by the  telephone/internet company. Removed were cash, jewelry, computers, files, cameras, and other personal items. The burglars damaged the front door while exiting through the front door of the apartment. Approximate value of stolen items and cash is estimated to be $10,000. Prosecutors are currently investigating the burglary.
