Cuenca Ecuador: 22 homicides to date in 2012

So far this year, in the canton of Cuenca has recorded 22 violent deaths caused public shock and not yet clarified by the entities in charge of investigations. The governor of Azuay, Police and statistics ECU-911 handles the claim that the main ingredient to make them all violence is the liquor, so suggest urgently intervene in Merced, square El Farol, Free Fair, bus terminal and market area in Nueve de Octubre, which are the sectors most liquor outlet.

Javier Barrera, political head of Cuenca Canton, said the governor will ask the Cantonal Council to create an ordinance regulating the use of public spaces, to punish the people who star libadores and scandals in public. Read Article

2. 25 percent of murders involved guns.
3. 25 percent of murders used blunt weapons.
4. 80 percent of the victims were between ages of 18-34.
