Costa Rica: Rincón de la Vieja Volcano erupts

A preliminary report of the National Volcano Observatory reports a new phreatic eruption in the lake of Rincón de la Vieja volcano, today at 2 pm. The statement said the neighbors Olman and Oscar Alvarado informed the OVSICORI a strong boom and a phreatic eruption that spewed water and sediments to the north side of the volcano. From their place in Buenos Aires and from Upala Ecolodge Bromeliads, two neighbors saw a column of white smoke like a mushroom that rose on the acid lake, and some channels formed by the eruption that caused the avalanches.
