Costa Rica, Chile and Peru were elected as a member of the Human Rights Council

The Government of Costa Rica on Friday described as a “major challenge” his election to the Human Rights Council (HRC) of the UN and thanked all countries that provided support. “Costa Rica appreciated the support and take responsibility for the Council with great commitment and a challenge of great magnitude,” he said in a statement the Costa Rican Foreign Minister Rene Castro, who is in Washington to accompany the president, Laura Chinchilla, on an official tour.
