Consumers in eastern state of Mexico, avoiding chicken due to fear of bird flu

In addition to facing a 50% increase in the price of chicken, vendors of Texcoco, La Paz, Nezahualcoyotl, Chichester, among others in the area east of the state of Mexico, are being affected because consumers left buying for fear of bird flu. No authority has approached the market to guide consumers there is no danger of this disease to the consumption of chicken. Daniel Perez Limon, one of hundreds of smugglers who have been affected by the situation in the valley of Mexico, said that despite the information disseminated by the health authorities, people have stopped eating chicken and rising distrust of the product.
