ElComercio.com reports that President Juan Manuel Santos, today, rejected a decision made by an Ecuadorian court to call a trial of the Colombian security forces that were involved in the 2008 bombing of Angostura that ended with the death of FARC deputy chief, “Raul Reyes.” Santos says that the military took direct orders from him, since he was Defense Minister. He goes on saying that he should be the only one held responsible. Colombia immediately rejected the Ecuadorian court’s decision saying that they do not recognize the jurisdiction of courts in other countries. The decision affects four retired military generals. The two current Colombians named are the current police chief and a colonel. The raid, ordered by the former president Uribe and Santos, occurred within Ecuadorian boarders without the permission of the government. Colombian officials say they were using the international humanitarian law jurisdictions for the raid.Read Article
