Colombia: UN reports that criminal gangs largest threat to human rights violations

vanguardia.com reported that the High Commissioner for Human Rights, in its annual report on the situation in Colombia, said criminal gangs, known as Bacrim, have become one of the largest sources of human rights violations.
“The post-demobilization groups, are considered by all sectors of the biggest threats to public order, and responsible for the greatest number of murder, rape, sexual exploitation, physical violence, forced displacement, extortion, harassment and threats” , says the report.

Also drew attention to the threats attributed to these groups which are recorded against human rights defenders, among which are the leaders of land restitution. “Insufficient official investigation has made it impossible to clarify these threats or end them, reinforcing the feeling of permanent insecurity.” Read Article
