Colombia: Two Girls Escape from Trafficking Network in Bucaramanga

On May 23, 2013 Caracol reported the escape of two girls from a human trafficking network in Bucaramanga, Colombia. The trafficking network allegedly recruited girls in Bucaramanga in order to take them to Venezuela. The case was revealed after authorities learned of the disappearance of two 12 year old girls who are public school students in the city.

According to the victims, a man identified as “Jazz Daniel” contacted them several months ago via Facebook. The suspect then met them at their school, invited them to a farm near Bucaramanga and led them to a residence in the center of the city. The girls later returned home and reported that the suspect had propositioned them into accompanying him to Venezuela. Police authorities are currently seeking the whereabouts of the suspect.
