Colombia, Natives Criticize Santos’s Policies on Mining and Defense of Human Rights

•In Madrid, the Asociación de Cabildos Indígenas del Norte del Cauca criticized the Santos administration’s policies on mining as it intensifies the armed conflict as reported by elespetador.com.
•The government’s policies on the mining of oil and gold are meant to aid the country in a financial crisis.
•60% of Cauca is already under concession for 50% for the actions and violations of human rights committed by a multinational Canadian company.
•The group criticizes that although Santos did not consult the natives before implementing the Plan de Desarrollo Nacional and has not been defending their human rights violated by the guerrillas. Read Article
