Colombia: FARC blamed for killing six policemen

Six policemen were killed on Monday in southwest Colombia in an attack blamed on FARC, in the most serious since the installation of a peace process and three weeks of the formal opening of negotiations with Cuba which seeks end the conflict for nearly 50 years. The Directorate General of Police said the attack took place on a road between the towns of Padilla and Villarica, in the department of Cauca, a mountainous region strategic for drug trafficking and arms where the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) have a strong presence.
