Colombia, Ecopetrol reports increase in stolen fuel

The stolen volume increased from 189 barrels per day in 2009 to 369 barrels per day in 2010. In the Shareholders of Ecopetrol, the company reported a 95.2% increase in the theft of crude to its transport networks. The company said this was due to increase in the eradication of illicit crops, to activities related to drug trafficking and the limited effectiveness when applied prosecute individuals or forfeiture.
