Colombia: Coffee harvest up substantially in 2014

portafolio.co reported 12.1 million sacks of coffee Arabica mild occurred between October 2013 and 2014 September (year coffee). In the same period of the previous year, the harvest was 9.9 million bags of 60 kilos. Exports also increased. in the run of the year (January-September) the coffee harvest in Colombia grew 16 percent and stood at 8.8 million sacks of 60 kg, i.e. 1.2 million sacks more compared with the 7.6 million bags of coffee during the first nine months of 2013.

Between January and September of this year foreign sales reached 7.9 million sacks, 17 percent more than the 6.7 million bags exported in the same previous period.

Higher production and higher prices are reflected in higher income for grain-producing families.

During the first nine months of the year, the value of the coffee harvest, including the support of the Government, reached the 3.8 billion pesos, reflecting a growth of 19 per cent on the coffee income recorded in the same period of the previous year. Read Article
