Chilean Pulp Mill May Be Held Responsible For 2004 Environmental Catastrophe

Reports suggest that Valdivia’s Celco pulp mill is liable for death of black-necked swans. Preliminary reports from the case against Celulosa Arauco (Celco) indicate that the pulp mill will be held responsible for the environmental disaster in 2004 at the nature sanctuary on Río Cruces. Ximena Rosales, spokesperson for the environmental movement Acción por los Cisnes (Action for the Swans), told The Santiago Times that the reports confirmed what many people already believe. “Everyone knows that the company was responsible…people throughout the country, even around the world.” Read Article
