Chile, Investigating outbreak of typhoid in Santiago

Jorge Diaz, Secretary of Health, said yesterday that an outbreak of typhoid fever, which was detected in the last two weeks in the area west of the Metropolitan Region with seven cases to date is “unusual” and reports that increased surveillance to determine the source of contagion.
He argues that they are “working hard in the monitoring of water, vegetables (irrigated with water that is not adequately treated), and we have observed that there is specific focus.” Read Article
