The announcement that the parent company of American Airlines entered bankruptcy could trigger profound changes in the commercial aviation sector in Latin America, where so far the U.S. airline had the largest market share. The bankruptcy filing comes after AMR Corp. accumulation of huge debts by the company, affected by high fuel prices and weakened by the high cost of a workforce with more benefits than the competition.
