Cargo Ship with supplies stranded nearly sinking in route to the Galapagos

elclomercio.com reported a cargo ship transporting supplies to the Galápagos Islands stranded nearly sinking near Posorja. The ship had 160 containers with 15 days of supplies for the inhabitants and tourists in the Galápagos. Planes from the Ecuadorian Air Force and smaller boats have begun an emergency operation to take food and other goods to the islands. In approximately 25 days, another cargo ship will arrive in the Galapagos with supplies. Authorities have not determined the cause of the Galapagos bound ship to list. Read Article
