Brazil: unemployment at 5.3 percent October 2012

The unemployment rate in Brazil in October was 5.3 percent of the economically active population, down slightly from 5.4 percent in September, the government reported today. Compared with October 2011, when unemployment was 5.8 percent, the reduction was half a percentage point, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The agency added that although the percentage changes, the number of unemployed people remained stable compared to last September and October 2011, 1.3 million people. Read Article
