Brazil: Teenager Escapes from São Paulo Prostitution Ring, Tells Story

On January 11, 2013, TNOnline reported that authorities are seeking the family of a 17 year-old girl who says she escaped from a São Paulo prostitution ring, lured to the city after being offered work as a maid.  The girl left her family in Jandaia do Sul, a small city in the north of the Brazilian state of Paraná.  She was taken to the local Guardianship Council, where she was examined and found to have been sexually abused.  Police will continue to investigate the prostitution ring, of which the girl says there are at least 15 other girls involved.  Read Article
