Brazil: President Visits Portugal for Privatization Debate and Bilateral Educational Agreements

On June 10, 2013, Terra reported that President Dilma returned to Brazil after visiting Portugal in response to the closing of the Year of Brazil in Portugal. However, the visit was intended to develop educational agreements between both countries as well as Brazilian companies working to help privatize Portuguese companies. Companies to be privatized include Portuguese airline TAP. The educational agreement between both countries is to ensure the qualifications of 1,500 Portuguese engineers and architects in Brazil without work in their profession due to the inability to register in regional councils. For Brazil, Brazil vetoed sending students to participate in the Science Without Borders program in Portugal as a means to encourage students to learn other languages. Read Article
