Brazil plans to eliminate Federal taxes on staple foods

The Brazilian government plans to eliminate all federal taxes on staple foods, said Tuesday President Dilma Rousseff, extending a series of tax breaks aimed at containing inflation. Rousseff said in a radio program that federal taxes had already been eliminated for the rice and beans, the staple food of the country’s workers, but other foods also be released from paying taxes. “These taxes should be eliminated, especially those of the basic food basket,” Rousseff said in a radio station in the state of Paraná.
