Brazil, foot and mouth disease alert for Brazil

The government reported on new measures after banning imports of live animals and beef from Paraguay, following the outbreak of disease that country announced last week.
Additionally, “activities were defined as a health alert” in the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso do Sul and Parana, the latter two border with Paraguay, the ministry said in a statement. The authorities also launched joint operations between veterinary and military groups to avoid “any threat of entry of FMD in Brazil.” Read Article
