Brazil: External Relations Refuses to Divulge Salaries of Employees

On January 17, 2013, O Globo reported that Itamaraty, the Federal Department of External Relations, remains the last federal agency yet to state the salaries of its employees. The release of public salaries comes as a product of a May 2012 freedom of information law. As of now, Itamaraty (named after the palace in Brasília it occupies) only releases the salaries of employees who work within the country. In November, the Federal Accounting Office (TCU) gave the agency one month to release the salaries, and Itamaraty failed to do so.  Read Article
