Brazil, Colombia rank first and second in number of homicides on the continent

The first place is Brazil, according to the Security Centre of the OAS.
The report was released at an event on the crime in the hemisphere that concluded Friday in Mexico City. That being said across the region came homicides in 2010 to 154,836, meaning that occur daily or 424, which is equal, 17 each hour. 75% of homicides are committed with firearms. The number of intentional homicide is highest in Brazil, which joined in 2010 (reported last year) a total of willful murder 40,974 in a population of 190 million. Next in the second tier Colombia, which had 29,324 homicides between 46 million and then Mexico, which registered between 112 million and 20,585 United States 14,159 murders in a population of 308 million.
