Bolivia, dengue cases increase

According to Beni’s provincial health director, Mauricio Rousseau, of the total 1093 dengue fever cases reported in 2010, over 50 percent were discovered during December. He added that in the first half of January 2011, additional cases of dengue fever infections have been reported in the province. Most of the dengue fever cases have occurred in Trinidad, Beni’s provincial capital. Officials in Trinidad estimate that 56% of homes are infested with the Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae, the main vector responsible for the spread of the disease. Read Article
