Bolivia and United States sign agreement against illegal trafficking in Bolivia’s archaeological pieces

Bolivia and the United States decided to extend until December 2016 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to protect the cultural heritage of the country. According to a press release from the Department of State United States, published on its website, the memorandum will enable to maintain the restrictions “on imports of archaeological material from pre-Columbian cultures and certain ethnological material from the colonial and republican Bolivia “. The Memorandum states that any piece discovered to enter the U.S. illegally will be returned to Bolivia. Read Article
