Argentina, tranvestites in Federal Police, security forces permitted to dress as women in uniform

The Security Minister, Nilda Garre, instructed, through a resolution, the police and security forces to respect federal gender identity adopted by transvestites, transsexuals and transgender people.Since the resolution 1.181/11, people “trans” should be recognized by the appropriate gender identity to their perception, both in the personal as any type of transaction, communication or publication within the forces. In order to respect the “right to be who you are,” Garre instructed the heads of the Federal Police, National Gendarmerie, Coast Guard and the Airport Security Police to give a treatment in accordance with self-perceived identity of the persons who so request.
