Argentina – Drop in beef consumption

Argentinean beef consumption will remain low at least until 2014, as a result of restricted supplies driven by the loss of 11 million cattle during the last four years (Infocampo). According to research by local analysts, although local consumers have accepted the higher beef prices (redirecting considerable volumes from export markets), beef supplies will not be able to satisfy previous consumption levels of more than 70kg/person per annum in the medium term.
