Airline Prices in Ecuador including the Galapagos Islands to increase in January

Eluniverso.com reported that airlines are losing a fuel subsidy by the Ecuadorian government which will impact domestic flights except at airports operated by the government.

The current price from Guayaquil to Quito on Tame is $130.00 USD round trip. While the base price will remain the same the ticket increase will be shown as a fuel surcharge on the ticket. At current pricing tickets from Guayaquil to Quito will go up $15.00 each way.
For foreign visitors to the Galapagos Islands the tickets will go up $70.00 each way from the mainland. For Ecuadorian nationals or residents the price will increase $35.00 each way. Tour operators have expressed concern relating that this will impact tour prices. Read Article
