Ecuador: Exports of Shrimp up sharply

SEAFOODNEWS.COM by Michael Ramsingh – August 20, 2014 reported Ecuadorian shrimp exporters capitalized on a banner summer production season this year with July shipments to major markets at record totals. In the US, Ecuadorian volumes were also at record totals for the month– particularly for smaller sized shrimp; but the overall share of Ecuador’s shrimp going to the US is down versus other markets. In July Ecuador’s shrimp exports to major global markets hit a record high 51.4 million pounds, which sent the year’s total export volume to an all-time high of 353.2 million pounds–nearly 31 percent higher compared to last year’s figures.Read Article
