Doctors in Brazil Plan Electoral Campaign Against Incumbent President Dilma

On October 15, 2013, Folha de São Paulo reported that Brazilian doctors, angry with the government’s policy to import physicians from other countries, are planning a campaign in anticipation of the 2014 presidential elections against incumbent President Dilma Rousseff.  While those groups hold a critical view of the program, a majority of Brazilians are still in favor of bringing in foreign doctors to help Brazil’s overwhelmed public health sector.  Datafolha also reported that 48% of Brazilians cited healthcare as the most important issue to be debated in the 2014 elections.  Read Article
