Ecuador: Anthropologists claim at least five groups living in isolation in Amazon region

elcomercio.com reported that at least five groups living in voluntary isolation in the Amazon have been identified by different anthropologists. So says a report by a group that brings together 14 anthropologists in the country. They point out that Taromenane and tagaeri are not the only family living without much contact. Kati Alvarez, who studies the peoples of the Amazon basin, says the group Iwene is located in the area of the blocks 14 and 17 (the Park Yasuni National) feromenane group on the border with Peru in the basin between Tigre and Napo rivers, and pananjuri, located south of the park.
