Kidnappings Triple in Mexico, men most vulnerable

informador.com.mx REPORTED that During the first six months of government of Enrique Peña Nieto, kidnappings have tripled compared to those perpetrated in the past two administrations. According to the National Observatory Citizen Security, Justice and Legality, December 2012 to last June 878 kidnappings were committed while in the same period of the administration of Felipe Calderon were 287 and Vicente Fox, 275.

Hector Larios, coordinator of the Observatory, said the first six months of government Peña Nieto are the worst since 1997 in the number of kidnappings, the year in which they began to measure high-impact crimes. At a press conference, activists Alejandro Martí, Isabel Miranda de Wallace and Maria Elena Morera explained that violence has increased criminal groups against victims of kidnapping.
