Rosario, Argentina: Mayor Claims Shutting Down Cabarets Won’t Prevent Trafficking Problem

On July 5, 2013 La Capital Noticias reported that Rosario Mayor Mónica Fein confirmed she will veto the recent ordinance passed by the City Council prohibiting cabarets. According to the mayor, the problem of sexual exploitation and trafficking in person is much more complex than preventing said establishments from operating. Fein went on to declare that “We will continue to utilize as we have been doing the Women’s Institute to strengthen all actions of the municipality and work with all women who may be sexually exploited. It would be important that all council members who approved the ordinance demand nationwide overhaul of trafficking laws. Read Article
