Ecuador: Official Rule, Foreigners Requesting Residence Must Present Criminal Record

According to Vistazo.com the Ecuadorian Interior Ministry has presented a resolution stating foreigners, over 18 years old, obtaining visas of residence in Ecuador must submit a record of criminal history in the country where they resided for the past 5 years. This announcement came on August 2nd in the Official Register N. 504. To obtain a 9-IV visa, the company must have a capital of $25,000 and show the foreigner has made the last three payments of IVA, the value-added tax, as well as their last income tax, social security payments and photographic evidence that the company exists. Furthermore, a foreign parent of an Ecuadorian child who desires to live in Ecuador must present evidence of child support payments. Lastly, to obtain a 12-VI non-immigrant visa, a person must present a certificate issued by the Superintendence of Companies stating the company’s capital is at least $12,500.Read Article
