5,000 Vehicles Stolen in Peru, Brazil, Chile Found in Bolivia

ElComercio.pe reports that the governments of Peru, Brazil and Chile have found 5,000 stolen vehicles belonging to the three countries in Bolivia. An amnesty decree, signed by Bolivian President Evo Morales, concerning about 130,000 undocumented automobiles helped the three governments locate the stolen property. Officials say that joint operations by all four countries also helped in the recovery of the stolen property. Marlene Ardaya, president of Peru’s high-plateau customs says that 130 stolen vehicles from Peru were found. Officials in Santiago, Chile said that 800 Chilean vehicles were recovered, and officials from Brazil claimed 4,000 vehicles. Officials say all the vehicles will be confiscated and returned to their owners in the various countries. The Brazilian Ambassador in La Paz, Bolivia says that many of the cars could have been used for drug-trafficking and armed robbery.Read Article
