The Department of Public Health in Uruguay has provided flu vaccines for the public and administered 370,000 so far this year. According to espectador.com, the National Director of Health, Gilbert Ríos, said this flu season has run more smoothly, in terms of vaccines, than previous years because the department has an ample amount of doses for the population. For those most at risk for the flu and who have first availability to the vaccines (adults over 65, pregnant women, children under 5 and health personnel) only the older age group responded immediately. The department is trying to reach out to other high risk members and encourage them to receive the vaccine.
