2013, Valle del Cauca Colombia records 95 new cases of tuberculosis

The diagnosis of tuberculosis in the Valle del Cauca are more common than believed. This is evidenced by a report by the Foundation for Education and Social Development, FES, with advice from the Fundación Valle del Lili and Icesi University, which indicates that so far this year there have been in the department 95 cases of patients with this disease, of whom 15% are children under five.

Paola Perez, a pediatric infectious disease of Valle del Lili Foundation and member of the research team, explained that “the most vulnerable are children under five years, because the process of healing in them is more difficult and time consuming.” Read Article
