Loophole in Ecuador law: no Penal Code punishment regarding illegal or clandestine marketing of police and military uniforms

Elcomercio.com reported an investigation determined that the nine suspects posing as policemen and vigilantes Road Traffic Commission. So mobile checkpoints mounted in strategic places of peripheral channels of Guayaquil to assault truckloads of merchandise. They were arrested on 2 February in a raid in Bastion Popular (north of Guayaquil). The officers presented the alleged evidence: appliances, a vehicle and a motorcycle as well as uniforms and vests of the institution and of the Transit Commission. How the accused purchased this dress? The Guayas Judicial Police investigating the origin of the costumes and the Prosecutor opened a preliminary investigation against those arrested for conspiracy and usurpation of functions. Article 239 of the Penal Code punishes the abuse of police and military uniforms with six months to two years in prison, but does not include the illegal or clandestine marketing of such clothing.
