thechronicleherald.ca reported….. Anne and John Rapson have come up with a novel way to beat the high cost of retirement in Canada — they’ve moved to Ecuador. The Halifax couple, both musicians who played with Symphony Nova Scotia for years, are retiring to Hacienda San Joaquin near the village of Vilcabamba in southern Ecuador. “We have a very modest pension from our years with SNS, and basically we could not consider retiring unless we were able to live in an economy that was much less expensive than Canada,” Anne explained in a recent email from the South American country.
