Peru may enlist visa requirements for Mexicans in attempt to curb narco activity

Peru’s attorney general, Jose Pelaez Bardales, has asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to consider returning to a visa requirement for Mexican citizens wishing to visit the country, a requirement that was eliminated in 2009. The reason, he explained, is the growing presence and activity of drug cartels in that country in Peruvian territory. According to figures from the Attorney specializing in organized crime in the last two years the Peruvian authorities have arrested 98 Mexican nationals related to drug trafficking.
